Vintage cars trade fair in Paris, Retromobile 2014, is one of the key events on the classic car dealer's and enthusiast's calendar. Now in its 39th year, this essential trade show takes place from Wednesday, February 5th to Sunday, February 9th at the famous Porte de Versailles exhibition complex. From your accommodation at the elegant and cosy Hotel Eden you can be there in less than 10 minutes by taxi.
Vintage cars trade fair in Paris a global event
This year Retromobile will occupy 41,000 square metres of exhibition space, making it the biggest so far. From all over the world will come thousands of enthusiasts, dealers, restoration specialists, collectors and spares and accessories vendors to meet and greet, do business, participate in the auction and see the displays. A major highlight will be the opportunity to admire around 500 wonderful examples of vintage automotive creativity gleaming in the booths.
A number of special events have been arranged for this year. The event will pay tribute to Thomas Parry and Malcolm Campbell, challengers for the World Land Speed Record in the 20s and 30s. A major retrospective will examine the career of the late racing car enthusiast Jean Redele, who set up the French automotive company Alpine in 1955. On show to the public for the first time will be fifteen models and memorabilia from his private collection, spanning the peak years 1963 to 1978. Coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War I, there will be a commemorative display of the military vehicles involved in that conflict, including tanks and trucks. The Cars of the Maharajas will showcase a heady mix of eccentricity and opulence, with examples including a legendary 1929 Isotta Fraschini 8A, once owned by the Rajah of Kotwara.
