Exceptional exhibitions at the Pinacothèque
Categories : Exhibition & Museum, published on : 12/9/15
Since opening in 2007, the Pinacothèque de Paris has become a major attraction for lovers of art and culture. In keeping with the vision of the gallery’s founder, Marc Restellini, these exhibitions in the Place de la Madeleine offer boldness and eclecticism, the better to challenge visitors and encourage then to explore new artistic fields.
Two exhibitions, one dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci and the other to Karl Lagerfeld, have particularly caught our attention.
Planning on spending a few days in the capital? Then why not take the opportunity to visit the Pinacothèque de Paris. For this special occasion, we will be happy to welcome you to our fine Eden hotel.
Leonardo da Vinci, Il Genio: illuminating the Codex Atlanticus
An astonishing 1119 sheets full of notes and drawings, testifying to the diversity of the work of the leading figure of the Italian Renaissance, comprise the enigmatic set of books called the Codex Atlanticus of Leonardo da Vinci. Thanks to the painstaking work done by the Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan, the extraordinary contents of this book have safely crossed the transalpine frontier to grace the Pinacothèque de Paris.
The exhibition simultaneously captures the spirit of the Florentine genius and the universal dimension of his inventions while shining new light on his personality and the influence he exerted on his contemporaries.
Karl Lagerfeld, A Visual Journey: the object reveals the creator
For 50 years the man nicknamed the Kaiser has ruled the world of fashion. But what do we really know of what lies behind the public image of white hair and sunglasses? This new exhibition goes some way towards revealing the man behind the myth, via the famous designer’s passion for photography. In a retrospective featuring often intensely personal work, including model portraits, landscapes, architecture and classical world influences, we are invited to immerse ourselves in the world according to Karl.
