Cabaret Shows in Paris: Origins and Early Beginnings
Napoleon Bonaparte gave orders for the construction of the Paradis Latin theatre in 1803 and the venue fast became a popular hang-out for literary artists, such as Alexandre Dumas and Balzac. This earned it the title of "the literary watering hole" and artists would come and quench their thirst for the best in Parisian cabaret. The show's popularity continued to increase, until the venue burnt down, bringing the show to a sudden halt. When Gustave Eiffel reconstructed it, the Paradis Latin enjoyed a revival.
