A major renovation for Paris exhibition Porte de Versailles
Categories : Fairs & Trade Shows, published on : 5/4/15
This year sees the start of a major programme of modernisation for the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Centre in Paris. Already one of the finest venues of its kind in Europe, the centre will be completely redesigned from top to bottom over the next ten years at a cost of nearly 500 million euros. At the Hotel Eden, located conveniently close to this superb facility, we are looking forward to these new developments.
A new look for the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles
Over 60% of the current area of the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, including many of the exhibition pavilions, will be renovated over the next decade. Architects of international stature, including Christian de Portzamparc and Dominique Perrault, are involved.
Among the planned developments will be large walkways and landscaped areas, including a 1.7 km green belt to encircle the park, community gardens, sports areas, shops, service facilities, a new central atrium and a spectacular cascade of luminous infostreamers. Inside the pavilions modular layouts will allow for multiple configurations. The facades of the various pavilions will be redesigned in bold, eye-catching and innovative ways. There will be a new gourmet restaurant, a spectacular pyramidal tower and a roof garden offering a panoramic view of the capital,. The largest meeting room in Europe, with 5,200 seats, is also planned. Additionally, there will be a huge new visitor orientation area at the entrance to the park.
All of this also presents an opportunity to rethink the centre’s environmental strategy. There will be green roof spaces, solar panels and geothermal energy usage that will combine to reduce overall energy consumption by 30% by 2020.
Don’t worry, though. During this entire ambitious project the centre will remain open and will continue to host the wide range of international trade fairs and shows for which it is renowned, including the agricultural, boat and car exhibitions.
